It's been a long haul for Road Case Guys. Our primary intent is to fabricate affordable, solid, well built touring grade cases. We are excited by the changes that we have made to ensure a better way of achieving our goals and yours, we are constantly striving for excellence in everything we do.

RCG has invested everything needed to provide the best service possible.

We love Douglas Fir as our choice for building your cases.

Strength and Stiffness

North American softwoods are rated to determine how they compare in strength and stiffness. Douglas fir is the highest rated of all the North American softwoods in both strength-to-weight ratio and in stiffness. These qualities make it first choice for contractors to use as framing for buildings as well as for such things as bridges and railroad ties. Douglas fir sets the standard by which other framing materials are measured, and is ideal for structures that need to withstand high winds or earthquakes. The stiffness quality makes it good for flooring.

Stability and Durability

Wood is seasoned -- meaning it is allowed to adjust to humidity -- before being used as lumber. Some woods will shrink, crack or twist as the moisture level changes. Douglas fir is unusual among softwoods in that it retains its size and shape as it seasons. It dries straight and true. This means builders can nail the wood up green and allow it to season in place. It also seasons relatively quickly. A very durable wood, the heartwood is especially resistant to decay.

We want to ensure your case panels are the best we can manufacture for climate and durability.

Polyvinyl acetate

Description

A colorless, nontoxic thermoplastic resin prepared by the polymerization of vinyl acetate. Polyvinyl acetate (PVAC) was discovered in 1912 by Dr. Fritz Klatte in Germany. It is one of the most widely used water-dispersed resins. Polyvinyl acetate water-based emulsions have been used as latex house paints, artists' media (since 1945), and common household white glues. Setting is accomplished by the removal of water due to evaporation or absorption into a substrate. PVAC resins produce clear, hard films that have good weather resistance and withstand water, grease, oil, and petroleum fuels. Additional properties are high initial tack, almost invisible bond line, softening at 30-45C, good biodegradation resistance, poor resistance to creep under load, and low cost. Polyvinyl acetate resins and copolymers are also used as hot-melt adhesives, sealants, fabric finishing, plastic wood, and inks.

We care about what environments your cases might be subjected to.

PVC

Usually, thermoplastics are supplied in the form of pelletised material (compounds) with additives (antioxidants, etc.) already blended in it. However, PVC resin is often supplied in powder form and long term storage is possible since the material is resistant to oxidation and degradation. Various additives and pigments are added to PVC during the processing stage, and the blend is then converted into PVC products.

PVC is sometimes known as ‘Vinyl’ in Europe and predominantly so in North America. In Europe, ‘Vinyl’ usually refers to certain specific flexible applications, such as flooring, decorative sheets and artificial leather.

PVC is a thermoplastic made of 57% chlorine (derived from industrial grade salt) and 43% carbon (derived predominantly from oil / gas via ethylene). It is less dependent than other polymers on crude oil or natural gas, which are nonrenewable, and hence can be regarded as a natural resource saving plastic, in contrast to plastics such as PE, PP, PET and PS, which are totally dependent on oil or gas. This chlorine gives to PVC excellent fire resistance.

You need to be confident that your investment is well protected.

Polyethylene plank foam

Features

Polyethylene foam is a strong, resilient closed-cell foam. Ideally suited as the material or part of a material required in products requiring a shock absorbing, vibration dampening, insulation, barrier or buoyancy component, and as a material for cushioning products in packaging applications. Polyethylene foam's excellent buoyancy allows it to be used in flotation equipment, and other nautical products.

Details

  • Closed cell chemically crosslinked polyethylene foam

  • Lightweight

  • Shatter proof

  • Cost-effective

  • Easy to fabricate

  • Non-dusting

  • Excellent buoyancy

  • Superb strength, and tear resistance

  • High shock absorption

  • Flexibility

  • Impervious to mildew, mold, rot, and bacteria

  • Superior chemical & grease resistance

Once again to ensure the best protection available, when we adhere something together, we want to know it's there for life and your case is protect from the elements.

Polystyrene adhesive

Spray Adhesive is our extremely versatile, fast-tacking industrial grade spray adhesive with a unique wide-web spray pattern well suited for bonding a variety of substrates, including polystyrene. It requires a short dry time yet provides long open time to work at the best pace for your job needs. It is an effective adhesive for waterproofing and protecting from moisture.
